Alexander McQueen _Backstage ’95

On the Anniversary of his passing, I wanted to show a series I had taken at the now infamous “Highland Rape” show at the V&A Museum in London 1995. I was a cocky lad, and with my camera under my coat I walked straight up to the tents and said I was was one of the dressers and waltz right in, randomly set my manual Nikon FM2  and started snapping away. It’s was such an adrenalin rush and I was completely oblivious to what I had experienced and the importance of what I had captured till years later.

The first image is available to purchase as a limited edition 17×22 print $1000.00 (US) for further info contact studio@modaoud.com

Old School_ Lil’ Kim

With an up coming album release and a lot of media buzz surrounding Lil’ Kim, I thought I would dig through my archives and show a photo I had taken back in the day when things seemed a little more innocent. Lil’ Kim and Mace, Compass Point, Nassau, Bahamas.

Rutgers_ R U Henry ?

Just completed a fun and effective campaign for The Rutgers Foundation. Back in the day Colonel Henry Rutgers donated $5000.00 bond that helped sustain the college that would later be named after him.

Limelight

A documentary film has just been released about legendary club owner Peter Gatien, highlighting the rise and fall of his New York City party venue, Limelight. Gatien was eventually deported after Mayor Rudy Giuliani and city officials cracked down on his illicit nightlife business and tax evasion. I caught the end of that madness one summer in the mid-nineties. I would regularly go with a camera shoot an event or rather see what I could shoot and get away with, run home in the early hours load up the processing tanks and “guesstimate” how long to develop the film. I got good at hand holding my Hasselblad, exposing, push processing film and being able to catch details in those dark corners of the clubs. A few images form those days.

Floyd Mayweather

Controversial fight last night between Mayweather and Ortiz. Mayweather was victor in 4th round knockout. The real fight was between Floyd and Larry Merchant, HBO’s commentator, who almost went head to head in the post fight interview. Never seen anything like that in boxing before. A little while ago I was assigned to document Floyd Mayweather, he was gracious enough to let me do my thing ( that’s all I’m going to say!).
